Tony Toscani (b.1986, Abington, PA) lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.
Tony Toscani is a visual artist working primarily with painting. While his early work explored various styles and mediums, he currently focuses on figurative paintings. Toscani’s work takes an intimate look at scenes from everyday life while poetically fusing logic and spirituality. His figures wander in and out of distorted proportions, immersed in personal anxiety in what seems to be a familiar world yet overshadowed with unusual characteristics. Toscani most often links his work to our deep sense of melancholy and apathy permeating our private life.
Toscani received his BFA from Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, and his MFA from the School of Visual Arts in 2011. He has exhibited in solo exhibitions with Carl Kostyal, London, UK; Stems Gallery, Brussels, BE; and Massey Klein Gallery, New York, NY. Recent group exhibitions include Volery Gallery, Dubai, UAE; Massey Klein Gallery, New York, NY; Here Arts Center, New York, NY; Knee Pits Gallery, Miami, FL; Gowanus Ballroom , Brooklyn, NY; Gesamtkunst Workshop, Brooklyn, NY; Field Projects Gallery, New York, NY; Barrett Art Center, Poughkeepsie, NY and Stillhouse Gallery, Brooklyn, NY.
